Archive, restore and delete documents

Manage document availability and remove obsolete material deliberately.

Before you begin

  • Sign in to Eva and select the intended project.
  • Use fictional records when practising; changes affect the selected business.

Starting screen: /dashboard/docs

1. Open document actions

Action: Open document actions. Select the image to enlarge it.

Find the document and open Actions for [document title].

Expected result: The record menu includes the lifecycle actions.

Confirm it worked: Verify the exact title before acting.

Result: Open document actions. Select the image to enlarge it.

2. Archive a document

Action: Archive a document. Select the image to enlarge it.

Choose Archive, then open the Archived tab.

Expected result: The document moves out of the active list.

Confirm it worked: The archived list still contains the document.

3. Restore when appropriate

Action: Restore when appropriate. Select the image to enlarge it.

From the archived document’s actions choose Restore, then return to Active.

Expected result: The document is active again.

Confirm it worked: Open it and confirm the content is intact.

4. Delete only when intended

Action: Delete only when intended. Select the image to enlarge it.

Choose Delete from the document’s actions. Read Delete doc? and its named record. Use Cancel to keep it, or Delete to confirm permanent removal.

Expected result: Cancel preserves the document; confirmation removes it.

Confirm it worked: After confirmed deletion, refresh and search: the document is absent.

Result: Delete only when intended. Select the image to enlarge it.

Troubleshooting and alternatives

Archiving preserves content for restoration; deletion is permanent. Use archive when you only want to remove a document from active business context.
