  • Use fictional records when practising; changes affect the selected business.

Starting screen: /dashboard/accounting

1. Open accounting settings

In native Accounting choose Settings. Review Accounting business settings and Accounting period controls.

Expected result: The settings and period state appear.

Confirm it worked: Confirm the current books and period.

Result: Open accounting settings. Select the image to enlarge it.

2. Review a manual journal

Use New journal where available. Select Journal account 1 and complete the shown balanced journal fields before saving.

Expected result: The editor presents a manual journal for review.

Confirm it worked: Check debit/credit balance and supporting reference; do not post a training entry in real books.

3. Close a period deliberately

Use Close period, read the consequences and complete Close or reopen reason. Confirm only when the books are ready.

Expected result: The selected period becomes closed under the product’s restrictions.

Confirm it worked: Verify the displayed closed-period state before attempting another entry.

4. Reopen only when authorised

Use Reopen books and enter the required reason if a correction is needed.

Expected result: The supported period state changes with a recorded reason.

Confirm it worked: Reload and inspect period controls and relevant audit history.

Troubleshooting and alternatives

Closed periods protect accounting history. Do not reopen merely to force an invalid transaction through.

The guide explains the product interaction; journal treatment requires appropriate business/accounting review.
