Before you begin

- Use fictional records when practising; changes affect the selected business.
Starting screen: /dashboard/crm?mode=manage
1. Open Customers
Choose Business → CRM. If needed, select the customer-management view.
Expected result: The Customers table is visible.
Confirm it worked: Confirm the project name and current provider filter.
2. Start a customer record
Click New customer.
Expected result: The new-customer form opens.
Confirm it worked: Locate Name for new customer and the optional contact fields.
3. Enter contact information
Set Name for new customer to Northstar Client. Enter Email for new customer as client@example.com. For phone, select the appropriate Phone country for new customer and enter Phone for new customer.
Expected result: The form holds the customer’s contact details.
Confirm it worked: Australia (+61) is the tested default; choose another country when appropriate.
4. Enter business information
Use Website for new customer = https://example.com, Tags for new customer = prospect, design, and Notes for new customer = Interested in a branding package. Choose status where available.
Expected result: The form contains the business website, labels and relevant notes.
Confirm it worked: Website must be a complete URL beginning with http:// or https://.
5. Create and find the customer
Click Create customer. Wait for Customer created. Then use Search customers to find Northstar Client.
Expected result: The customer appears in the selected project.
Confirm it worked: Reload and search again; the customer is still present.
Troubleshooting and alternatives
A bare domain such as example.com fails website validation. Correct it without discarding other entered values. Optional contact fields can be left empty.
Avoid duplicate records: search existing names and email addresses first. Built-in customer management and cached provider records have different editing capabilities.
